The sessions:
Course will be virtual (online) via Zoom.
For those wish to work in groups on campus, IDEAS Lab can be made available.. Power BI Introduction 1, Virtual: This first introductory session focuses on navigating the user interface of Power BI, and in addition create a range of basic but powerful visualizations like Bar Charts, Maps, Line Charts and Dual Axis Charts on top of a simple data structure. Power BI Introduction 2, Virtual: The second introductory course builds on top of the first by adding a number of new visualization types, but also introduces basic calculations with DAX, and report functionality like Interactions and sharing of reports. Power BI Intermediate 1, Virtual: The intermediate Power BI course kicks off by elaborating on data models, and specifically how to work with dates in Power BI, including expanding on time-intelligence calculations with DAX. Power BI Intermediate 2, Virtual: Part 2 of the Intermediate course breaks out the grand palette of 'cool' report features like Bookmarks, parameters for accepting user input, custom tooltips and clever report navigation.
About the trainer:
Jon Stjernegaard Vöge is a Data and Analytics Consultant and Trainer at the Copenhagen based consultancy Inviso by Devoteam. He is a certified trainer and experienced in multiple self-service BI tools, with extensive experience in the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate, as well as integrations to Sharepoint, Teams and Azure.
All students should download and install Power BI Desktop on their computers either through the Microsoft Store, or via https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/.
Power BI Desktop can ONLY BE INSTALLED ON WINDOWS. Hence, Mac users will need to install Bootcamp, or gain access to a virtual windows machine somewhere.
Furthermore, students will have to sign up for a free microsoft account during installation.
There are no licensing costs involved in the installation/sign up.
