About the Workshop/Course:

An expanding amount of social media content is generated every day, yet organisations are facing increasing difficulties in both collecting and analysing the content related to their operations. Social network analysis is one established method of Big Social Data Analytics that can deal with this challenge.

The 8-hour big social network analysis workshop will cover both collecting and analysing Twitter data. First, basics of network analysis and network metrics are introduced. Then Twitter data is collected from Twitter API using PythonAnywhere for running Python code in the cloud. Finally, social network analysis and visualization of the data is conducted with Gephi to extract meaningful insights. The aim of the workshop is to give a practical introduction to social network analysis for research purposes.

The workshop is aimed at anyone interested at collecting and analysing social media data.
